Keep waste moving out of the metro by rail. You'll coordinate railcar scheduling, transload operations, and outbound disposal logistics—the work that makes the rail-served model actually pencil. This role sits at the center of McCoy's cost advantage.
Key Responsibilities
- •Schedule and track railcars, unit trains, and outbound disposal moves
- •Coordinate transload operations between truck inbound and rail outbound
- •Manage relationships with Class I railroads, short lines, and disposal sites
- •Optimize load planning to maximize tons per car and minimize demurrage
- •Maintain manifests, weights, and chain-of-custody records
- •Troubleshoot delays and keep operations and customers informed
- •Track and report on cost-per-ton and logistics KPIs
Required Qualifications
- •3+ years in rail logistics, transportation, freight brokerage, or waste logistics
- •Understanding of rail operations, transload, and outbound disposal economics
- •Strong organizational skills and comfort with logistics/TMS software
- •Detail-oriented with a head for scheduling and load optimization
- •Clear communicator across railroads, haulers, and internal ops
Preferred Qualifications
- •Experience with Class I railroad scheduling and demurrage management
- •Background in waste, scrap, aggregates, or other bulk commodities
- •Familiarity with chain-of-custody requirements for regulated materials
- •Knowledge of the Great Lakes / Midwest rail network
